Ken Smith

Owner

Ken joined his family business in 1980 after graduating from Fayetteville Technical Community College. A lifelong resident of Cumberland County, he is known for his character and strong work morals, traits handed down from his parents. With over 40 years of local experience in grading and utility construction, Ken enjoys seeing firsthand many residential and commercial sites still present today in his hometown, having been developed by Odell Smith & Sons. He holds a North Carolina General Contracting License in Building; Highway; Public Utilities (Water Lines & Sewer Lines)- #23981 and #36829, as well as a North Carolina Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler License- #2064. Ken is a past member of the Board of Directors of PNC Bank and has served as a Deacon at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church.

Kenneth W. Smith, Jr.

Kenneth is a 2013 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Working part time for Odell Smith and Sons, he is a full time staff engineer at Moorman, Kizer & Reitzel Engineers, Planners and Surveyors Inc., a 58 year old engineering firm in Fayetteville. He is a licensed General Contractor- #80210, as well as a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina- #045277.

Alden D. Smith

Alden is a 2016 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business Administration. He has completed the OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Course. Having interned with Monteith Construction, Inc. in Wilmington, NC, he now works full time as a project manager with Odell Smith and Sons. Alden is a licensed General Contractor- #80314. He holds a NC Public Utilities License.

Bill Chavis

Bill has over 30 years of experience in the utility construction business, having worked the past 26 years as a working Project Supervisor with Odell Smith and Sons. He has constructed bores from 6" to 36" in size. Bill has completed the OSHA Competent Person Training in Excavation, Trenching and Shoring, and is proficient in all areas of utility construction.

Dale Smith

Dale has over 25 years of hands on site prep experience. From paving, grading, curbing, and the installation of utilities, he has truly done it all. Dale is a Grade Superintendent. He meets tight schedules and does a fantastic job keeping our projects on schedule for completion!

Sonya Odom

Sonya has served as the Office Manager and Human Resources Director of Odell Smith and Sons for the past 20 years and is steadfast in her commitment of keeping both employees and jobs on schedule. She is a "hands on" office manager and is the friendly face that first greets you at the door. Sonya has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Tony has over 20 years of experience in the utility industry. He is a Utility Foreman for our team, installing water, sewer, and storm drain lines and structures. Tony has also completed his OSHA Competent Person Training in Excavation, Trenching, and Shoring. His crews extensive experience in utilities allows for a flawless experience over the duration of a project.

Trevor Ward

Collin Howard

Trevor is one of our grade foremen. He has a strong background in one of our most utilized softwares, TopCon GPS. He has been in the grading industry for over 8 years with vast experience in both residential and commercial projects.

Collin Howard

Collin has been in the construction industry for over 6 years. He is also a grade foremen also having worked on a wide variety of projects. Collin's tackled the task of widening roads, the addition of turn lanes, apartment complex site prep, and much more.
